Rodney Lowery

I’m married to an amazing lady, and we have three children together. Two of them are currently pursuing careers in law enforcement, and one is in his last year at Fresno State – Go Dogs!

My law enforcement background started at the tender age of 19 and concluded in 2000 with retirement from the Fresno Police Department. Over the years I’ve had opportunities to work in undercover narcotics, SWAT, K-9, and Violent Crime Suppression Unit (VCSU).

After retiring, I attended Bible College where I obtained a B.A. in Bible and Theology. I then moved to the great Northwest and attended Multnomah University, obtaining my MDiv. I am currently enrolled at California Southern University, working toward a PsyD.

It’s been my pleasure to lead the chaplaincy for the past fourteen years. I see how God has expanded the role of chaplain far beyond what most could imagine. I have the unique experience of viewing the needs of our city from a ministry perspective as well as through the lens of a law enforcement officer.

These lenses helped launch the Resiliency Center of Fresno in 2019. This organization birthed by the Fresno Police Chaplaincy uses the data from Fresno PD’s calls for service to proactively reach out to families impacted by trauma offering professional mental health counseling.
